During monsoon, fields without weeds have risk of soil erosion. But fields with weeds can store minerals and nutrients as weed-biomass that would otherwise are deemed for getting washed away with water flow. This biomass becomes food for winter-crop.
But what about current monsoon crop? Won’t weed eat up all nutrients on surface and will never go deep , which are required for monsoon crop?
🙂 That is where we need to spend more time and understand the cycle. I am sure Mother nature is ready to help us.
The weeds of last season should actually go deep for the current crop.
PS: This is my humble observation. Experts may help here.
