Yes, you read it right. LED is silent IED (explosives). It destroys, not only body but also mind. Inviting mental disorders. No wonder, we are turning into society of zombies!

Light pollution is one of the most rapidly increasing types of environmental degradation. Its levels have been growing exponentially over the natural nocturnal lighting levels provided by starlight and moonlight.

Dangers of exposure to “white” light

“White” light bulbs that emit light at shorter wavelengths are greater suppressors of the body’s production of melatonin than bulbs emitting orange-yellow light, a new international study has revealed.

Melatonin is a compound that adjusts our biological clock and is known for its anti-oxidant and anti-cancerous properties.

Migration from the now widely used sodium lamps to white lamps (MH and LEDs) would produce an increase of pollution in the scotopic and melatonin suppression bands of more than five times the present levels, supposing the same photopic installed flux. This increase will exacerbate known and possible unknown effects of light pollution on human health, environment and on visual perception of the Universe by humans

The fact that “white” artificial light (which is actually blue light on the spectrum, emitted at wavelengths of between 440-500 nanometers) suppresses the production of melatonin in the brain’s pineal gland is already known. Also known is the fact that suppressing the production of melatonin, which is responsible, among other things, for the regulation of our biological clock, causes behavior disruptions and health problems.

Photic regulation of melatonin in humans: ocular and neural signal transduction.

Light is a potent stimulus for regulating the pineal gland’s production of melatonin and the broader circadian system in humans. It initially was thought that only very bright photic stimuli (> or = 2500 lux) could suppress nocturnal melatonin secretion and induce other circadian responses. It is now known that markedly lower illuminances (< or = 200 lux) can acutely suppress melatonin or entrain and phase shift melatonin rhythms when exposure conditions are optimized. The elements for physical/biological stimulus processing that regulate photic influences on melatonin secretion include the physics of the light source, gaze behavior relative to the light source, and the transduction of light energy through the pupil and ocular media. Elements for sensory/neural signal processing become involved as photons are absorbed by retinal photopigments and neural signals are generated in the retinohypothalamic tract. Aspects of this physiology include the ability of the circadian system to integrate photic stimuli spatially and temporally as well as the wavelength sensitivity of the operative photoreceptors. Acute, light-induced suppression of melatonin is proving to be a powerful tool for clarifying how these elements of ocular and neural physiology influence the interaction between light and the secretion of melatonin from the human pineal gland.

Melatonin-suppressing light is “dangerous only if we expose ourselves to it during the hours when we should be in the dark. So what is the use of it during day time? 😀

So while we are embracing govt promoted cheap LED program, unknowingly we are inviting future IED blasts for huge population (since it is subsidized)! Sleep disorders led psychopaths, cancer and life-style diseases due to hormonal imbalance – is it not explosively enough to destroy society?

Govt in democratic country runs on populist measures. So such steps are expected from them. As an Individual, you save yourself. We really don’t need days when darkness would become luxury and there will be shops selling darkness hours ! 🙂

Suggestions:

  1. If you have growing children at home, reduce home lighting post sun-set. Bare-minimum light. No LED!
  2. Don’t use even zero watt bulb light at night.
  3. Learn to respect darkness!
