How often your mind pursue marathon?
Or it gets tired in 100m race?
Don’t tell me that it is worst that your mind can’t even run 10 m.
Attention span is the amount of time that a person can concentrate on a task without becoming distracted. Most educators and psychologists agree that the ability to focus one’s attention on a task is crucial for the achievement of one’s goals.
Whatever the mind thinks of, the organs of action strive to materialise: hence, again, mind is action.
A short attention span is a much greater problem than just not being able to concentrate on something. The issue needs far more serious thought than it is given today. Since mind(minding) is a action, less time spent on it will result in ineffective actions by organs of actions and ultimately inefficient working, lethargy and FAILURE.

How to train mind to run marathon?
I could think of three physical/mental exercise to train mind.
Uninterrupted Sports(Hockey,Footbal,Table Tennis like sports which requires non-stop attention. Not like Golf and Cricket where you rest for most of game time) can help mind to run marathon.
Easy but hard to follow : Early morning meditation in nature.
Uninterrupted reading (Reading is endangered hobby.
