Each story has hidden meaning if we learn to decipher. There is popular story known in our cutlure about Avtar Krishna and Demon Putna. And how baby Krishna kills the demon Putna.
The word “Pūtanā”, broken as “Pūt” (virtue) and “nā” (no) means “devoid of virtue”. Another explanation derives “Pūtanā” from “Pūta” (purifying), thus meaning “she who purifies”.Putana (Sanskrit: Pūtanā, lit. “putrefaction”) is a Matrika, who is killed by the infant-god Krishna.
In reality, Putna is a childhood sickness. Often due to post-delivery stress, mother’s milk become vitiated and imbalance of Dosha (Kapha, Pitta, Vayu balance) happens. More often in the case of first time mothers. If child’s mother cannot feed (in case of Krishna, mother was not able to feed), foster-mother feed. If this foster-mother’s intentions are not good, has no love for the child, milk becomes poison. And Putna arrives to kill or hamper the growth of the child.
Due to drinking such milk, infant’s body’s Vayu is aggravated and so infant suffers from Lack of sleep, diarrhea & constant thrist and constant crying. That is Putna.
If not taken care, infant dies. This is one of the primary cause of infant mortality.
Baby-Krishna could survive such vitiated milk. And that is how he killed the Putna!
Pippali and trifala churna with ghee and honey.
Needless to mention that Krishna was living with Nanda the Cow expert. So he must have got this treatment immediately. And since he took birth with perfect body, it was easy for him to fight against poisoned milk.
Things to take care:
1) Never give ghee and honey in same quantity i.e. 1 ml ghee + 1 ml honey = this is not preferable.
2) Purity of the sources. Ghee prepared from ethically procured milk and prepared by churning. Honey procured ethically without harming bees.
This is the reason, feeding mother should never take stress of any kind. She should be always cheerful and stress-free. Her food should be rich and wholesome prepared by someone who has highest love for both newly became mother and infant. And so post-delivery, new mother prefers to live with her mother. 🙂
Indian metros can collectively be called 51st or 52nd state of USA. Consumption-centric planned and designed festivals. Halloween is a new entrant.
From Delhi to Pune, there was great rouse for Halloween this year in youth. Next year, it will become TRP for TV channels and from 2017 onward, we will celebrate it officially (When middle class will go crazy about it).
Culture defines राष्ट्र’s boundaries. So, nothing wrong in calling us 52nd state of USA. Don’t live with false patriotism Ego, that is only active on 15th Aug and 26th Jan). Accept us as 52nd state. 🙂
Be ready to welcome yet another consumption gory like Friendship day and Fathers day and Sister day! (Y) Fun time!
Your whims and fancies may trigger a thought that culture and nation are two different domains but I suggest that you get rid of this notion asap in national interest. It is nothing but unfitness of immature mind to imagine Bharat without Bharat maa. I have full sympathy and I will pray that our society will work affirmatively to do successful root-canal for this dented chasm.
It is real pastime to insult/denigrate cultural ways of reforms when you really don’t have bent of mind to understand culture.
Also, it is foolishness to oppose systematic changes via laws if your intellect fall short of understanding importance of same in national interest. Get rid of both notions in nation interest. Work unitedly.
Country follows the culture? No. Culture is one’s country and country one’s culture.
Protecting dharma, culture, nation is one in the same things. Spend your personal time selflessly for all of them! There is no great sacrifice than investing valuable personal time for the Nation and culture. Do not waste time in insulting each other.
The Daughter is affection incarnate and it is as such that Vedic Literature depicts her. She has never been denied the rights her brother enjoys. A critical analysis will reveal that in the Vedic Ritual, the Daughter is just as important as the son, if not more; as a matter of fact, in many places it would appear as though in ancient India the Daughter was more important for the parents than the son.
If you are indeed following vedic way of living, you will pray for daughter birth. The daughter is for the parents the sum-total of purity, tenderness, affection, devotion and bliss. It is utter ignorance or devilish motive to term Vedic rituals/samskaras exclusively for Male population.
Take for example Pumsavanan Samskara. It has become popular belief by those who follow modern dictionaries written by British indologists that it is Samskara to beget male child and has nothing to do with female child. Utterly nonsensical! If the meaning of the word ‘Pums’ be limited to males only and the Pumsavana be a rite that must be performed, there remains no rite to be performed for the birth of a daughter. But the fact is that the birth of a daughter is most welcome. In Sanskrit literature the word ‘Pums’ does not exclusively mean males alone but is also found used in the sense of human beings in general. Thus, when Varaharnihira says the earth has veins just as the bodies of Pums’ have, the word Pums’ conveys necessarily the sense of human beings, as women too have veins in their bodies. Hemacandra in his Abhidhana-cintamani gives “martya: one who is mortal,” Bhu-sprs:”one who touches (is born on) the earth,” etc. as the synonyms of ‘Pums’. All these necessarily include the sense of women as well. In commenting upon a couplet quoted in the Bhamati which includes the word ‘Pums’ in the genitive plural, Bhatta Gopinatha in his treatise Upodghata says the word Pums means males as well as females. The Asvalayana Srautasutra too uses Pums in the same sense.
Thus, while describing rituals, sutra-kara(s) use masculine noun to represent पुरुषत्व. पुरुषत्व is gender-free quality, like प्रकृति is. In fact, there are places when special feminine mention is required, it is mentioned with specific noun. In fact, analysis of punsavan samskara shows that Girl child is that, sutra-kara(s) raise no objection to the birth of others of her sex, nay, more-they introduce a girl in particular, not a boy!
Here are some popular examples of rituals performed for longing daughter as child and nurturing her with highest divinity:
(1) Parents perform Kaamya-sraddhas on the second day of the moon in the hope of having a daughter.
(2) Desirous of having a daughter, the husband touches all the fingers of the wife except the thumb during the marriage ceremony.
(3) Longing for a daughter the bridegroom shows the bride after she has reached her new horme the Dhruva and other constellations.
(4) The parents deem it a favour of god if they can have sons as well as daughters by their side during the performance of sacrifices.
(5) The Rigveda praises the father of many daughters.
(6) The daughter claims her support from parents not for nothing, but for her devotion to them. They care for her as much as they do for their son; or it may be said-even more, as the father is found to worship the daughter (kumari) as an emblem of Virginity, as an emblem of Purity, of Tenderness. Devotion, and what not.
Just as the Matrika-puja is to take place at the beginning of all Vedic rituals, the Kumari-puja is recommended to be performed at the end of all; and this latter worship, the Daughter-Worship, is impossible in the absence of a daughter as she is to be bodily present. The father wraps her up with new garments, entertains her with delicious dishes and walks round her. From her first year onwards she is worshipped as different deities; if she is one year old, as Sandhya: if two, Sarasvati: and so on. Thus as she grows, the parents find in her different manifestations of the Supreme Soul,-blessing them in every possible way. The daughter is indeed the embodiment of all blessings for the parents and the family.
Actions to be taken:
Inspire more and more healthy, sacred, responsible parents who can imbibe best of the best samskara to children, to beget daughter more than son. Daughters can create more and more dharmik families. Creating dharmik families is indeed need of the hour.
If you are proud parents of 8-10 years old girl child, it is good for her to observe fast and be with nature during these days.
8-10 years old female child is on the verge of puberty. She will go through tremendous physiological changes in upcoming decade. Her reproductive system is on the verge of maturation. During this time, it is important to keep her happy. Her healthy mental state will regulate these physiological changes and won’t allow abnormalities. Fasting will boost her immune system so that pathogens don’t disturb highly vulnerable cervix development.
This ritual becomes more crucial in our times when girls are reaching puberty very early duty chemical cocktails in our lives.
During this time of the year, mother nature is in blooming mood. Mother is in shades of rejuvenation. If she spends more time in nature, she will inspire from mother and do not worry about rapid physiological changes.
1) Fasting will keep her yearly immunity at best level.
2) Beginning of monsoon is the season of rapid changes. She can best sync her physiological changes with mother nature
Gauri Vrat. Enjoy these moments with your girl child. Make this special period for her.
Side note: There is debate going on at national level about sex education. Sex education? This is ideal time to describe sacred importance of reproduction. Unlike moronic modern sex education who teaches vikruti in name of education (For example, “use condoms and consume yourself safely” type campaigns)
Real sex education will teach kids right actions at right age. Teen age is not the right age as reproductive organs are not yet ready. Indulgence in pre-mature age = havoc in future years. From infections to cancer. Save your children by imparting right values.
I know, you will have question that why not for boys?
Let me explain by one example: Farmers need to take care of both field and seeds. Same treatment cannot be applied to field and seeds.Like that field and seeds in humans should be taken care.
Boys maturation happen little later than girls. They carry seeds. Farmers give different treatment to seeds than fields. Their development happen at Akhada (अखाडा playground) where seeds are protected until good matured spring.
Early Puberty is not only havoc for your girl child but also her future children.
Early puberty is purely an environmental phenomenon. More artificial hormone-bending chemicals in food, water and air. On top of it, filthy Bollywood and TV matures mind early.
On top of it, so called international schools and their local blind copies promote sex education. TV is full of condom ads. Authors and columnists (Chetan Bhagat type) promote free-sex. And then, there is series of planned days like Friendship day, Valentine day etc.
This results into premature sex. Teen-age encounters. Youth engaged in adult acts.
And then we promote HPV vaccines!
Neck like opening to the uterus is called Cervix. In Hindi, it is called गर्भाशय मुख. Opening of Womb.
This Cervix wall act as a protection wall of uterus (divine soil/kshetra where new jiva resides for 9 months). Behind this wall, Prana, architect of human body, is working 24×7 for 9 months, to carve the human body. Any disturbance to this Prana’s work means deformity or miscarriage. Manual abortions do nothing but disturb Prana’s work.
Vagina is full of bacteria. Some of them are healthy bacteria (like lactobacilli which helps newborn to teach breastfeeding) and some of them are pathogens (Any disease-producing agent). This Cervix wall is natural defense against them.
Cervix wall starts developing with first cycle of period in teen age females. It becomes mature by the age 18-21. See picture to understand the difference between cervix wall in adult female and teen age female.
Liberals often talk in favor of sex education in schools. This education and other mediums bombarding sex is not sex education but lust education. This results into teen girls engaged in sex. Some of them become mother before crossing 18.
When teen age females are involved in natural/unnatural sexual acts (which is common in western countries and now in India too 🙁 ), they are early exposed to pathogens and these pathogens passes cervix wall as it is immature and one layer wall (see picture). This lead to infection in uterus and many other issues, including cervical cancer at middle age. So much stress for organ which is still under development.
HPV virus spreads only when immature wall is exposed to it in teen age. It cannot work in females who did not experience sex before ripen age i.e after 21.
Right sex education is education of Brahmcharya. It should inspire teens celibacy for their own wellbeing. No luring, no lust, pure science. Sanatana principles.
Instead of Brahmcharya, our habits, school environment and family environment promotes teen sex. I see many parents laugh on their teens affair relations. Morons!
And as a solution, they suggest HPV vaccine! 😀 . HPV vaccine to innocent female teens is like forceful exposure of HPV virus to immature Cervix without any sexual acts. This is giving ample side effects. Sometimes deadly. Sometimes premature ovarian failure. It snatches right of motherhood for many. And if there is motherhood, children suffer from unforeseen sicknesses due to disturbed Prana during pregnancy.
This HPV infection is increasing in India as teens are not rampant and involved in sex at very early age. No text book covers this 🙁
Sex followed by HPV vaccine is not a solution for teens. Brahmcharya is.
We do not give solid food to infant due to their inability, why can’t same be followed for cervix wall?
Think about it. Learn Vrata(s) of monsoon. Amazing but easy tools to remain in sync with mother nature.
Above phrase is popular cultural conclusion. There is no science involved but this is what wise from us have concluded.
Humans emit upwards of 106biological particles per hour, and have long been known to transmit pathogens to other individuals and to indoor surfaces.
Here is an interesting paper discussing same. Microbes are प्राणिक signature. You can say, floated and distributed cellular intelligence. Your home, your work area, your family members, your colleagues, they have their own signature. Museum of their own microbes. More time you spend with them, more you exchange this प्राणिक signatures. And slowly, above saying becomes true.
And so it is critical to keep good company. It is critical to do सत्संग.
One more reason why we restrict children to visit alien places alone. They have very sensitive प्राणमय शरीर. They are in growth or learning phase. So they are susceptible to imbibe alien signatures. And same is true for persons with weak mind.
“Our results confirm that an occupied space is microbially distinct from an unoccupied one, and and demonstrate for the first time that individuals release their own personalized microbial cloud,” the authors concluded.
It is always preferable to live life in tribe who share your roots, habits and customs. 🙂 (That is where Varna and Jati played critical role of sustaining Indian societal fabric)
One more reason why it is advised to keep newborn in quarantine area of home in company of mother only i.e. to avoid incompatible microbial clouds that may hamper growth. And only after निष्क्रमण संस्कार (4 months) , infant is allowed to go out and exchange with environment. It is called वृध्धि सूतक.
And same is the reason why unrestrained sex with multiple partners is causing severe immune deficiency. We call it AIDS. 🙂 (As there will be chaotic exchange of incompatible Pranic Footprints)
Microbial cloud = प्राण in distribution = Floated intelligence. Some compatible with you, many not. ==> Infection, Immune disorders.
Reason why we clean homes regularly. Reason why we do grih-shanti before moving into new home. To stabilize the Floated intelligence of the home.
This does not mean that you cannot live life without doing all of this. 🙂 Just there may be unforeseen obstacles. Being sensitive about environment around helps us to perform our duties toward the world effortlessly. That is the purpose of life.
“We each give off millions of bacteria from our human microbiome to the air around us every day, and that cloud of bacteria can be traced back to an individual. We each give off millions of bacteria from our human microbiome to the air around us every day, and that cloud of bacteria can be traced back to an individual. New research focused on the personal microbial cloud — the airborne microbes we emit into the air — examined the microbial connection we have with the air around us. The findings demonstrate the extent to which humans possess a unique ‘microbial cloud signature’.
The striking results were driven by several groups of bacteria that are ubiquitous on and in humans, such as Streptococcus, which is commonly found in the mouth, and Propionibacterium and Corynebacterium, both common skin residents. While these common human-associated microbes were detected in the air around all people in the study, the authors found that the different combinations of those bacteria were the key to distinguishing among individual people.
“We expected that we would be able to detect the human microbiome in the air around a person, but we were surprised to find that we could identify most of the occupants just by sampling their microbial cloud,” said lead author James F. Meadow, a postdoctoral researcher formerly from the Biology and the Built Environment Center at the University of Oregon.
“Our results confirm that an occupied space is microbially distinct from an unoccupied one, and and demonstrate for the first time that individuals release their own personalized microbial cloud,” the authors concluded.
The research sheds light on the extent to which we release our human microbiome to our surrounding environment, and might help understand the mechanisms involved in the spread of infectious diseases in buildings. The results also suggest potential forensic applications, for example to identify or determine where a person has been, though it is unclear whether individual occupants can be detected in a crowd of other people.
Dispersal of microbes between humans and the built environment can occur through direct contact with surfaces or through airborne release; the latter mechanism remains poorly understood. Humans emit upwards of 106biological particles per hour, and have long been known to transmit pathogens to other individuals and to indoor surfaces. However it has not previously been demonstrated that humans emit a detectible microbial cloud into surrounding indoor air, nor whether such clouds are sufficiently differentiated to allow the identification of individual occupants. We used high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA genes to characterize the airborne bacterial contribution of a single person sitting in a sanitized custom experimental climate chamber. We compared that to air sampled in an adjacent, identical, unoccupied chamber, as well as to supply and exhaust air sources. Additionally, we assessed microbial communities in settled particles surrounding each occupant, to investigate the potential long-term fate of airborne microbial emissions. Most occupants could be clearly detected by their airborne bacterial emissions, as well as their contribution to settled particles, within 1.5–4 h. Bacterial clouds from the occupants were statistically distinct, allowing the identification of some individual occupants. Our results confirm that an occupied space is microbially distinct from an unoccupied one, and demonstrate for the first time that individuals release their own personalized microbial cloud.
This is loose translation of late puri shakracharya sri bharati krsna tirthji’s explanation
‘Sanatana’ means ‘nitya’ or Eternal. For Bharat, dharma is ‘Sanatana’, eternal. In any other language, there is no word to represent Dharma. In English, there is word ‘Religion’ but it cannot substitute word ‘Dharma’ fully. Word ‘Religion’ is so limited and narrow-minded translation that eternal gist of ‘Sanatana’ is lost when it is used as synonym. Sanatana Dharma is so unfathomable that it not only covers subjects related to this life but a continuous time-immemorial living.
In scriptures, ‘Dharma’ is described as ‘धारणात् धर्म’ (There are many interpretations but essence remains same). धर्म is that which sustains the society, protects the society from decadence, downfall and destruction. Whereas ‘Religion’ is strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny. Religion may lead to superstitions, delusions and tunnel vision but Dharma cannot. For example, Veda does not mere prescribed अध्यात्मिक/spirituals discourses but they also suggest ways to prosper in material worlds.
Let us try to understand word ‘सनातन धर्म’ by different yardsticks.
1) In Sanskrit grammar, word ‘सनातन धर्म’ is having षष्ठी-तत्पुरुषसमास i.e. ‘सनातस्य धर्म इति सनातनधर्मं’. Like how Christ is part of Christianity, Buddha is part of Buddhism, सनातन is part of सनातन धर्म i.e. सनातन धर्म is being governed by the सनातन i.e. नित्य तत्व/परमात्मा. It is not man-made, man-prescribed dharma but God-made, God-governed, God-prescribed, eternal dharma. Since Dharma has closest meaning in ‘Religion’, it is natural tendency to compare ‘Dharma’ with ‘Religion.
Take any religion of the world. It can be classified in two categories 1) Those who were there in ancient times and not practiced currently 2) Those that were not there in ancient times but are being practiced in present times. सनातन does not fall in this category for very reason that it carry i.e. नित्य or eternal. It was there in ancient times and it is here right now, very reason why life still prevails in turmoil times.
2) ‘सनातन धर्म’ is eternal not only because it is created and prescribed by almighty but also because it remains eternal from formation of universe to destruction of universe and beyond. If we understand word ‘सनातन धर्म’ by कर्मधारायः समास, it means ‘सनातनश्चासौ धर्मश्च’ or dharma which stays forever.
This does not mean ‘Religion’ equivalents of ‘Dharma’ are fraud or false. Since they are influenced by one or another person, and controlled by sects, they die out.
3) Another way to interpret ‘सनातन धर्म’ is (again कर्मधारायः समास )
This means, ‘सनातन धर्म’ is eternal, not only because it was prescribed eternal almighty or it is eternal but also because those who follow सनातन धर्म, also become सनातन or अमर or immortal.
To understand this, we will have to look for comparative analysis of civilizations and Nations of the past. Greece, Rome, Syria, Persia and many such nations were powerful and having hold on Earth but they all are vanished with time. Mighty military, abundant wealth and mass – they had everything but not a power to make people Sanatana. Despite turmoil of many millenniums, it is this land, land of Bharata, that has sustained life and the credit goes to people’s varied but steadfast belief in following eternal dharma principles.
4) To understand meaning of 3rd point (Dharma that makes followers immortal), we need to understand meaning of word सनातनयति.
सनातनयति – सनातनं परमात्मस्वरूपं प्रापयति इति or Dharma which helps followers to attain God.
This is the nature of सनातन धर्म. The one prescribed by eternal nature, is eternal and helps followers to become eternal by realizing existence of the eternal almighty. To understand and implement सनातन धर्म in life, scriptures are written by ऋषि-द्रष्टा in their deep communion with eternal. They are torchbearers. Whenever, they are not followed, society invites destruction, sooner or later.

The same compound, analysed into Shashthi tatpurusha, would be laaoksya naaqa: – the Lord of the people, the King.
Many Indians now blame their culture for the decay of their civilization. Many of them put world religions in the same category of dharma.
I call it, utterly myopic and ignorant view. Dharma is not religion so you cannot compare dharma-shashtra with Bible or Quran. If you really want to compare, compare सम्प्रदाय to world religions. Dharma is global context, whose subtext all religions are. Some of them mirror the dharma with perfection while some cannot/don’t want. Sustenance is a function of how well your local culture has mirrored dharma.
This civilization is dharma based civilization. As long as dharma is sustained in remote pockets, be it tribal belt, cow-belt or Himalaya, civilization will stay here.
Yes, it is human nature to deflect from dharma. And it is obviously reflected in their terrain.

The word “dharma” is derived from verb “dhaaraNa”. it is “dharma” which holds society together. Hence if something is able to hold people together, no doubt it is dharma.
In consumer society, mass-attitude is to consume. Giving back is mere show off business organized by some charity organizations.
We consume all natural resources at rocket speed without ever engaging in giving back. This is fundamental root cause of all our personal miseries. It is also reason behind imbalance we see in our environment. Of course, mother takes care of balance but you cannot predict her method. It can be natural calamity or your death.
Life lived for self, without giving back is life wasted. Do not waste your life. Start giving back to nature. Stop using non-sustainable life style. Step by step, mold your life in such a way that you reduce consuming (Thief as per Bhagwad Gita) attitude of self and other family members.
Deva, Rishi and Pitru – they all without any order sustain our existence and provides ample opportunities/hints for self-realization. We are indebted to them. So in response, those who only consume these opportunities/hints/material for sensual gratification and never show respect/gratitude/reverence for them, are thieves.
We owe this body to our parents and all ancestors. It is they who have fostered us by being a instrumental in this great grand game called Samsar. Our knowledge or perceptions are due to fine tuned support of Rishi Gana (Senses). Devas provides us sharir to perform duties.
In short, body, senses, mind, intellect – they are not ours, these came from the world. Utilizing someone’s gifts for personal worldly pleasures lead us to bondage. To break this bondage, it is necessary to utilize this body in service of the world.
To reduce the debt of the Pitru, we perform tarpana. To sacrifice legacy desires, we perform pitru yajna.
Pitru Tarpana is one critical ritual. When it is not performed, karmic debt is kept increasing. Bondage becomes stronger. This lead to miseries of the life.
What a blunder, we commit when we regard the objects, such as the body etc., as ours!
Can we change them, as we desire?
Can we possess them as long as we desire?
Can we maintain them, and carry them with us?
Avoid blunders. 😀
Begin your spiritual journey by thanking pitru(s).
What is difference between Raam ‘s Bharat and Ravana’s Lanka?
Bharat had abundant of Natural forest/Natural landscapes. Lanka had naturalized(Make more natural or lifelike) forest.
Look around you. What do you see most? Artificially grown lawns/Golf Course(Modern Asoka Vana) or Natural green pastures for cows?
We are living in Lanka. And we want to call it Raam Rajya 🙂
How is your life? Natural or Naturalized (Inspired from Media driven green campaigns)?
RIP, in Indian social media, it is now common trend to use it when some famous personality dies. In fact, it is not mere trend but blind mimicry due to powerful influence of western universalism. It is nonsense adaptation. I say it is nonsense because “rest in peace” or its Latin original “requiescat in pace,” implies a belief in the concept that at death, the body is separated from the soul, and so the body is buried while the soul rests elsewhere until the final day of judgment when some “god” unites the body with the soul and then assigns some to “heaven” and others to “hell.”
I find the whole notion of heaven and hell, and its necessary correlate of a judgmental “god” who hands out eternal rewards and punishments, utterly insane and repulsive. It’s all very fine for people who profess the Abrahamic faiths to wish their co-religionists RIP but others would do well to respect people of different faiths and not wish them RIP.
For me, for billion Hindus, who slowly are adapting catholic culture (RIP is just one expression. Cutting cake on Birthday, eating junk pizza on all festivals etc are other such expressions showing Church influence on ordinary Hindu’s life style), Atma continues to descend on material plane until moksha is attained. So, RIP expression is nonsense.
It is shocking state where average Hindu read, write, consume non-dharmik traditions very easily. Of course, it doesn’t matter much as far as daily chores go. However, slowly vanishing dharmik imprints from Hindu mind, is dangerous.
Do not rest in peace, welcome back!
